About  Sarah

Sarah Bjorndahl was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. On the fifth birthday, her parents conceded after a year of begging and enrolled her in ballet classes at Ballet Arts Foundation. She received her professional training from artistic director Mary Beth Cabana, Cheiko Imalda, and Mark Schneider. Her professional career began in 2005, as part of Kandis Meinel’s Arizona Dance Theatre, which was dissolved in 2016. Some of her most notable roles include: Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty, the Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, a soloist in Balanchine's Serenade, Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and the leading roles in Giselle and Paquita. She also attended the summer intensive program Burklyn Ballet Theatre in Vermont for several years, including one year as a junior counselor. While there, she learned from renowned dance instructors including Angela Whitehill, Joanne Whitehill,  Arthur Leeth,  John Gardner, Amanda McKerrow, Helen Starr, and Alun Jones. More recently, she has guest performed in Yuma with Yuma Ballet Theatre, and in Phoenix with Terpsicore Dance Company, which was dissolved in 2016. Sarah has been instructing ballet for approximately ten years. She currently teaches, stages, and choreographs at ShowBiz Academy of Dance, and teaches at Studio One Arizona. She is also majoring in Dance at Pima Community College, and will eventually transfer out to earn a degree in Dance Education.
